A high score is associated with hardening of the arteries. A computer measures the amounts of calcium in the arteries of the heart and generates a calcium score. A CT Cardiac Calcium Scoring exam provides a cross sectional view of the heart and blood vessels. Recent advances in CT scanners have made “screening” exams possible for patients without any symptoms. Frequently, these non-invasive tests help physicians “see” disease processes that are not well visualized with older imaging modalities, such as pericarditis. Mikolich utilizes these advanced imaging techniques to diagnose blocked arteries to the heart, malfunctioning heart valves, impaired heart muscle function, as well as congenital heart disease. Mikolich is board certified in Coronary CT Angiography, Cardiovascular Diseases, and Internal Medicine, and is also a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology.
